Adjunct Faculty Surveying Construction

Lorain County Community College

Reporting to the dean of Engineering Business and Information Technologies, the adjunct faculty of surveying and construction will perform the following duties:
Teaching an introductory surveying course for Construction majors as part of the Construction Technology program at LCCC. Class and lab assignments will emphasize the care and use of field instruments used in land surveying. Students will take field measurements and learn to make the basic computations and adjustments necessary to post process field survey measurements.

Course topics include and are not limited to:
Fieldworks Basics, Distance Measurements, Angle Measurement, Elevation Determination, Traverse Operations, and Field Practice. The course is scheduled on Saturdays from 8:30am to 1:10pm. Be responsive to student questions and requests for assistance. Participate in the assessment of student academic achievement.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Surveying, Construction Management, Construction Engineering, or closely related field. Must have demonstrable experience with Surveying.
A minimum of five years of industry experience.
Ability to operate a computer to post syllabus, grades, and attendance.

Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Surveying, Construction Management, Construction Engineering, or closely related field. Evidence of successful prior teaching experience at the community college level.
Experience with the Canvas learning management system.
Ability to use modern educational technology such as multimedia-based instruction.
