Survey Technician Lvl 3

Corner 2 Corner Land Surveying

Education Requirements:
2- or 4-Year degree in Land Surveying.

Experience Requirements:
Minimum of 3 years of survey experience.

Special Requirements:
A valid driver’s license.

DUTIES:
1. Gathers field survey data through use of conventional and Global Positioning System (GPS) methods; sets up, adjusts, and operates surveying equipment, including robotic total station, data collector, and GPS equipment, in order to measure distances, elevations, and angles; prepares field notes and drawings; performs field surveying for boundary, topographic, construction, and flood management projects, including installing surveying construction stakes, and locating or establishing vertical and horizontal control, right of way, monuments, corners, boundaries, and property lines.
2. Performs complex surveying calculations using engineering calculator, laptop computer, graphics software, such as Carlson Survey/Autocad; analyzes raw data for mathematical closure and geometric accuracy;
3. Research existing record information, including record maps, plans, deeds, easements, and right-of-way documents; and maintains field data records, survey project files, and indexing systems.
4. Assumes responsibility for the company survey equipment and performs or oversees equipment maintenance and inventory. Performs or oversees vehicle cleanliness.
5. Sets up, operates, and adjusts all types of survey equipment, including but not limited to a level, robotic total station, and GPS equipment..
6. Makes trigonometric calculations, such as adjusting traverses and calculation of coordinates, control points, quantities, and areas.
7. Prepares and reviews maps, drawings, sketches, plats, and simple reports from field notes.
8. Trains other crew members/survey technicians on the processes and field procedures with use of equipment and gear.

QUALIFICATION GUIDELINES:
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
1. Knowledge of standard procedures, methods, and principles of land surveying.
2. Knowledge of basic cartography and graphic design principles and methods.
3. Knowledge of basic site planning and architectural design principles.
4. Knowledge of Federal, state, city, county, local land use laws and regulations.
5. Skill in managing competing interests under strict timelines.
6. Skill in using computers and software applications in one or more of the following areas: graphics, presentations, database management, mapping, data analysis, evaluation.
7. Ability to work as a member of a professional team of fellow co-workers.
8. Ability to learn, comprehend, and applies organizational procedures, methods, and policies.
9. Ability to interpret maps and prepare graphic materials for visual presentations.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed in a field locations throughout the State of West Virginia, but not limited to West Virginia only. Some office work may be required. Sits or stands for long periods of time. May occasionally lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds. Outdoor work requires the ability to move about uneven terrain, in wetlands, waterways, hillsides, and being around heavy equipment.

SUPERVISOR:
Field Crew Chief or Surveyor in Charge of branch office.

WORK HOURS:
minimum 40 hours per week

POSITION:
Full-time

HOURLY PAY: $20

BENEFITS: 5 Days Paid Holidays 2 Week Paid Time off per year
